Modeling Portfolios

Get started on the right foot…

IIn-studio, or on location, we have you covered when you need to start or update your modeling portfolio.  If you are serious about modeling, you should consider investing in a photographer who knows what they’re doing and can provide usable portfolio shots.

A modeling portfolio session is a lot of fun, and will also give you the opportunity to hone your skill-set.  Work on your posing, discover your look, and learn basics of interacting with lighting that’ll make future shoots a breeze for you and the creative team as a whole.

It’s not just about the shoot itself or the images you’ll obtain.  It’s also about getting time in front of the camera, learning through experience, and talking shop with a local professional.

Benefits of a professional portfolio shoot:

Usable portfolio images: Show potential clients that you’re serious about your modeling.  A professional, high quality image speaks volume about your dedication and also shows off  your best.

Modeling experience: Modeling is not just looking good.  It’s a skill that you develop over time as you learn the intricacies of your face, body, lines, and posing.  The more time you have in front of the camera, the better your skills and the more relaxed you feel.  That translates to better modeling sessions and images.

Find your look: During a shoot, we will see in real time what angles are your best and what genres you are best at.

Posing and Expression: Learning how to use your natural features to their greatest effect comes with experience.  Developing a posing style will set you apart from the rest of the crowd.  Learning to emote during a shoot offers variety and keeps all of your photos from looking the same.  Think of it as a mini-acting class.  The more versatility you develop, the better!

Lighting: The photographer uses lighting techniques to achieve the look and feel of the shoot.  Learning how to interact with the key light, for example, will save the photographer a lot of cueing and make the shoot flow better.

Industry news and networking: The photographer often knows what is going on in the local industry and can give you a heads up on news and events.  Recommendations for other professionals to work with are a great resource as well.

Having fun: A photo shoot is fun!  If you’re not enjoying yourself, something is definitely wrong!

Contract, Retainer, and Fees

When scheduling your shoot, you will be sent a shoot contract that will detail what is included, including requested add-ons.  The contract will detail terms of the shoot, cancellation policy, etc.  This contract must be signed at the time the retainer is paid.

A 50% retainer of services fee must be paid to secure your spot in our calendar.   This is 50% of the session fee listed above.  Failure to pay the retainer may result in loss of your intended session time and date.  Please note that this retainer fee is non-refundable.

The remainder of session fees must be paid in full before services are rendered.  Please note: coming to your shoot and not having payment arranged means that we will not be shooting.  All fees need to be paid up by shoot time.  The photographer will NOT allow payment following the shoot.  Preview photos and preliminary edits WILL NOT be provided until payment of all add-ons is made in full.

Add-ons, including prints ordered following completion of the shoot are to be paid via invoice in a reasonable amount of time.
